Windows Defender is designed to run in the background periodically and scan for known malicious software such as spyware. Well, if you have been following this series, you’ve already installed a piece of software that will do that for you and you don’t need to have it automatically run and take up resources at random times of the day. For this reason, it is a good idea to simply disable Windows Defender if you don’t want to bother having it run. I know I don’t bother, because it really isn’t very good protection software anyway, why keep it running?
