Seriously. My i7 pc @ 4ghz runs rings around typical $1600 imacs. It's like twice as fast. And still faster than a $2000 i7 imac, or the $2500 pro by some. The beauty is, I only paid $750 for it. Even for fun I hackintoshed in leopard and amazed my mac owning friend with a mac twice as fast as his. I prefer windows 7 though.
