FIX – COMPUTER WILL NOT WAKE UP (SLEEP MODE)

March 9th, 2010

One possible solution for fixing your machine when it goes into sleep mode. Note: this is only a temp fix and does not solve the greater problem of the computer not returning from sleep mode…

@megazone2148 : hi mega, it was a bit more complicated in this instance, although for general sleep mode incidents, that can work many times : ) Thanks for watching.

If it says fatal error occured, i had the same problem, it ended up being my dimm card was bad, try taking one out at a time and see if it will start normally, if it starts the dimm that you took out right before is bad, replace it

Try a “repair” install. Ask a tech savy person how to do it, they will know what you are talking about. If done correctly, you will get to keep all your files, and only the windows operating system files will be replaced/fixed.

I’m assuming you already double checked all the power settings? Also, are you trying to get it to go to sleep via time passing, or by pressing a button?

does it make any tones when it turns on? (beeps?) What color are the lights, laptop or desktop?

It might not be “sleep” mode that it is going into. I would check out all of the power save settings under control panel to make sure all that stuff is right first.

When i press the “sleep” button, it goes to sleep , but after a couple seconds or so, it turns back on. I hope you can help me. I looked on google, but all was about the computer not being able to wake up .
